I chose to kill my dreams, because they were in the way

A long time ago, nearly a decade back, I was a rather boisterous and happy person. Nothing mattered. I was popular, I was geeky, I was fun to hang out with, and it couldn't have gotten better. I can't say what happened after that, because it's not one reason, but a whole slew of them. I started seeing everyone I thought who cared about me, leave me one by one, or rather, I saw them for who they really are. It scared me beyond belief. People who I thought were my friends were not who they really were. then my flaws became apparent to me. My flaws seemed so small, compared to the multitude of talents that I had. But I couldn't take it anymore. I snapped.

Society had nothing to offer me, so I went inward. It was bliss for a while. I didn't need to hear the inane chatter of everyone anymore. I sneered whenever I saw or heard someone talk in a group. "Fools, wasting their time away with such idle chatter. Look at the reality of the world. You aren't happy. You're just ignorant." But then again, ignorance is bliss. I continued down that path, alone and scared. Fear wasn't something I was going to tolerate with myself anymore. I stood in front. I took the bullets. I faced everything that I could with my head held high. And that's what led to my downfall. All those insults and abuses, they dug into me like sword wounds. I hate humanity. I use the present tense because it's still the same. No one is sincere. Everyone wears these false masks, just to make themselves socially acceptable, while in reality, they're as ugly as can be. What's the difference between me and them? I'm supposed to be human as well, aren't I? The difference is that I don't have to pretend to wear those masks like everyone else. If I don't like something, you will know it from me. I would rather have the entire world as an enemy, than even a single dishonest friend.

I have trust issues. Sure, I tell people stuff at times, but there isn't anyone that I really trust. I don't think anyone can blame me for that. Friends, family, lovers, all of them betrayed my trust at some point in time. Id' be foolish if I were to put my trust in any more people. I shouldn't judge people who have met me based on the ones in the past. Fair point, but what would you do, in my position? I can't trust people, because it means making me vulnerable to others, when I could have the upper hand instead.

I had dreams as a kid, big dreams. Those dreams continued. But over time, I had learned that in some way or the other, the bigger the dreams that I had, the less of an impact that I made to myself. They weighed me down. No, I'm wrong. Society and what it wanted weighed me down. What it expected of me, finally broke me, and even though I was unwilling, I had to do it, because I wanted to. I somehow thought it would be better if I showed everyone that I could move forward in the same path that they deemed fit, faster than what they could achieve by themselves. And so, I chose to kill my dreams, because they were in the way of me getting the revenge that I sought.

I have regrets for doing that, yes. But I think, that in the end, I've come a step closer to a goal that I want more than anything else. Life is unfair to a lot of people, and a lot of them manage to stay positive through it all. I chose the darker side because that was what felt a lot more comfortable to me. Someone once told me something. People who stay in the darkness stay in it because the light seems to reveal all the ugly faces that we have to face. It's ignorance in it's own right, yes. But would you rather see the monsters that are about to rip you apart? Or would you have a veil of darkness protecting you from them not only from sight, but also from their harm? I think, even with my courage, I'd choose the latter. Dreams die, sometimes due to weak will, sometimes due to circumstance. Only very few times do people choose to kill them out of choice. I did that, and I think it's totally fine.

Poem - Indomitable

This is one of my recent attempts at a poem after a long hiatus. I wanted to convey that nothing in the world is worth giving up for. You should always have an iron will and use that will to conquer the world. So, please, fight on brave warriors. You are not alone.

Indomitable

Dreams fail in the absence of Hope.
Smiles fade in the presence of Evil.
Love dies in the wake of Betrayal.
Innocence dies in the agony of Pain.
With all this corruption, why do you cope?
With all this loneliness, why do you thrill?
In all this mourning, how is your soul lull?
In all this madness, how are you still sane?
Dear child, it matters not why the world is.
I concern myself not with the meek.
I ponder not at the inanity of the ordinary.
For we are strong, pain has forged this.
For we are wise, not with hearts weak.
For we are lions, scarred but never unwary.

Pilot!

Hi everyone,

So, this is the pilot post for my blog. I'll give you guys a small overview of what I'll be doing on this blog.

This blog is mainly aimed at letting my literature reach a broader audience than what I could hope to achieve by word of mouth. Most of the people who already know me have already sampled my work, and I hope to gain a much broader audience with this. I don't limit my work to just poetry or novels, I try to gain as broad a perspective as possible so that I may enrich myself to the maximum extent possible. My specialty when it comes to writing is rather somber topics. That's not to say that I won't be writing other styles. I'd like to gain experience and further hope to see many more people read my work. That's the main aim that I hope to achieve.

Although this is centered towards literature in general, it's not to say that I will be focusing solely on that. I'll also write a few tech-based posts, based on what I have read and experienced so far. My interests with technologies are far reaching, but based mostly on consumer electronics. I'm a huge fan of open source technologies, but that's not to say that I don't like some closed source stuff. I love Windows and am a huge fan of Microsoft and their history. Apple has left a rather sour taste in my mouth after seeing their business style. But I try to maintain as neutral a view as possible. I've had experience with using almost all the major releases of Windows since 2.0 to 8.1. I've used a variety of Linux flavors, all of which seem to have their own merits and demerits. If anyone has any requests, technology based or otherwise, I'd be glad to entertain them. You can send them to my email.

I'm also a huge fan of anime and manga in general. I've had a good life in general mainly because when I was in need, anime came to my rescue. Of course, there are always those that say anime is for kids, and I just brush it off saying that they haven't experienced anime in the way that I have, and they just need to give it a chance. Of course, if someone still maintains it is childish, what better way to stay alive than to live as a child? Who enjoys being an adult? I don't. I miss my childhood, but that's not to say that I will wallow in the past, I will keep moving forward as much as I can. So, you can find a few anime based posts here as well.

If anyone has any questions, criticism, or compliments, please feel free to share. I appreciate any and all comments made.
